Sculpture In Wood
Wooden block, cut in the borough de Pijp, Amsterdam, the Netherlands, but not in in Workshop Schinkel of Dolf and Émy Schinkel, Valschermkade 16A, 1059 CD (De Pijp), Amsterdam, for that is a restaurant. 73 x 23,5 x 8 cm.
Bought around 1996 after having seen it at an international gathering of woodcutters in the forests of Putten, NL. I saw there also Indians from Canada and Australian Aboriginals decorate each other’s dug-out canoe oars, both being fisher folk.
Abstract, but I see in it the turbulent course of life ending in a little black drainage hole with afterwards a few slight waves of memories from others, but also with the egg that promises a new life.
